Stage 1 Remap — What Gains Can I Realistically Expect?

2026-08-25 5 min read

Manufacturers sell one engine across many countries and tune it conservatively to survive the worst fuel, the hottest climates and the tightest emissions regimes. A Stage 1 remap safely claims back that margin for UK roads and fuel.

Typical real-world figures

  • VW/Audi 2.0 TDI 150: ~148 bhp → ~180–190 bhp, torque up ~70 Nm
  • BMW 320d 190: ~190 bhp → ~230+ bhp with noticeably stronger mid-range
  • Ford Fiesta/Focus EcoBoost 125 petrol: gains of ~25–30 bhp plus sharper throttle
  • Transit/Transporter vans: similar percentage gains plus measurably better MPG when driven gently

What a Stage 1 will NOT do

It will not turn a 150 bhp car into a 250 bhp car — that territory requires hardware (Stage 2). It will not damage a healthy engine when written properly, and it will not magically fix mechanical problems; that is what our diagnostics are for.

Custom vs off-the-shelf

Generic "tuner box" files apply one map to thousands of different vehicles. Our files are custom-written around your exact ECU, mileage, modifications and fuel — then verified after tuning. That difference is drivability, longevity, and the reason every remap includes a 5-year software warranty and lifetime backup of your original file.
